Shaman's Land tells the story of a Shaman who lives deep in the forest on the outskirts of the local villages. The Shaman provides protection and good fortune to those who offer tokens of gratitude, but the Shaman's powers may come from a darker origin.
.
Shaman's Land is my Final Year Project for my graduation year at Staffordshire University. The focus of this piece was to refine and improve my environment workflow using tiling materials, trim sheets, atlas sheets and modular asset pieces; all of which are applied to this project.
Shaman's Land also proved to be a great opportunity to enhance my understanding and knowledge of visual composition and presentation. I worked through a hybrid blockout for the first half of the project to nail down the main frame, the composition, values, and general colour usage, and then began applying the previously mentioned workflow elements to bring it all to life.
.
The longer deadline on this piece allowed me to work through multiple iterations, constantly asking the question 'how could this be better?' and then hopefully answering it.
.
It's been a valuable and enjoyable project , working in an art style (PBR Stylised) which I love, and has allowed me to develop as an artist both from a technical and visual understanding point of view.
.
The project still has imperfections and could likely go through even more iterations, but I'm happy to call this done and move forward onto new things. It's been great fun and thank you to everyone who gave feedback and support throughout it!
.
I hope you enjoy. Thank you!
